Three-Cone Momentum Infield Drill
Circular three-cone path that forces continuous momentum toward first while fielding inside the left foot with two hands.

Coaching notes
Player starts behind the rear cone and works around three cones in a circular path, fielding a ground ball inside the left foot with two hands on each pass, then shuffles and throws to first. Emphasizes never stopping the feet after the charge.
Objectives
Create consistent directional momentum to the target, reinforce two-hand fielding, and improve left-foot timing for stronger throws.
Coaching cues
Constant motion toward first; field inside left foot with two hands; left foot plants as ball enters glove; shuffle and strong throw.
Common errors
Stopping the feet after the charge; fielding outside the left foot with one hand; bobbling without chest protection.
Setup
Three cones in a small arc or triangle; coach rolls or hits ground balls timed to the path.
Steps
- 1. Start behind the rear cone in ready position
- 2. Work circular path around the three cones
- 3. Time the ground ball so it is fielded inside the left foot with two hands
- 4. Shuffle and throw to first while maintaining momentum
- 5. Reset and repeat at full speed
