Coaching notes

Coach hits or throws base hits to various outfield locations while runners are placed; defense must execute the correct cutoff/relay and limit extra bases.

Objectives

Improve communication, cutoff positioning, relay accuracy, and decision-making on base hits with runners on.

Coaching cues

Get the cutoff man in line early; communicate the target; throw through or cut on the call; back up every throw.

Common errors

Cutoff man out of line; late communication; overthrowing the cutoff; poor backup.
