First basemen practice charging different bunt locations, fielding with proper footwork, and throwing to the correct base while the rest of the infield covers.

Coaching cues

Charge hard but under control; field out in front; know the throw before the ball arrives; communicate with the pitcher.

Common errors

Late charge; fielding the ball into the body; throwing to the wrong base.
