Catalyst Knee-to-Fielding-Position Drill

Transition drill from both knees (glove on turf) into full athletic fielding position while sliding the glove along the ground to stay beneath the ball.

Coaching notes

Partner rolls a grounder; player rises right foot then left while keeping the glove sliding on the turf, teaching low-to-high movement and timing.

Objectives

Teach players to stay down and work beneath the ball when moving from a low start into fielding position.

Coaching cues

Glove starts and stays on the turf; up onto right foot first then left; slide glove along ground; left-foot timing; stay low.

Common errors

Lifting the glove early; rising too high; poor foot sequence; losing balance.

Steps

  1. 1. Start both knees, glove flat on turf
  2. 2. Partner rolls grounder
  3. 3. Rise right-left while sliding glove along ground into FP
  4. 4. Field and recover
