Coaching notes
Middle infielders communicate coverage with open/closed mouth signals; second baseman positions as cut man; shortstop covers second; catcher and third baseman read the runner at third to decide whether to cut or let the throw go through.
Objectives
Eliminate chaos on first-and-third, create clear decision trees, and practice communication under pressure.
Coaching cues
Communicate early; second baseman get into cut position; shortstop cover the bag; catcher eyes flash to third; cut if the runner breaks.
