- About 12 min
- Setting:

Coaching notes
Place 4 cones in a square (~15 strides apart) with 1 center cone. Player works 12 sequential steps starting from athletic ready position, receiving simulated fly balls, ground balls, and line drives from the coach while focusing on first-step efficiency, working behind the ball, and transitioning into a throw.
Objectives
Eliminate false steps, master drop-step and speed-turn mechanics, reach full speed under control, catch and transition cleanly on every type of outfield ball.
Coaching cues
Athletic ready on balls of feet; sink and open hips on drop step; no false steps; pump arms to full speed; work behind the ball; catch in front of the bill of the hat; field off glove-hand foot and gather to center; stay in line on speed turns with head on a swivel.
Common errors
False steps or drifting on first move; slowing down before the catch; catching with glove already extended; failing to work behind the baseball.
