Teacherman Wall Drill (Proper Execution)

Teacherman Hitting refined wall-drill execution that teaches the scrunch/tilt needed for a parallel barrel path and maximum power.

Coaching notes

Hitter works against a low wall or PVC. The emphasis is on coiling then tilting (scrunching the lower back) so the barrel travels parallel to the top of the wall, producing a powerful snap rather than a rotational merry-go-round path.

Objectives

Install the correct tilt-based barrel path; create the scrunch that generates power; eliminate over-the-top rotation.

Coaching cues

Coil then tilt/scrunch; keep the bat parallel to the top of the wall; feel the snap from the tilt; do not rotate over the wall.

Common errors

Rotating instead of tilting; coming over the top of the wall; losing the parallel path.

Steps

  1. 1. Set a low wall or PVC near the tee
  2. 2. Coil then tilt so the barrel stays parallel
  3. 3. Drive the ball while feeling the scrunch and snap
  4. 4. Progress to regular swings with the same tilt feel
