Teacherman Wall Drill for Proper Barrel Path
Teacherman Hitting wall (or PVC) drill that forces the barrel to travel parallel to a physical barrier, teaching tilt and the Ferris-wheel path instead of merry-go-round rotation.

Coaching notes
A low wall or PVC pipe is placed just outside the tee. The hitter must drive the barrel through the ball parallel to the top of the wall. This requires proper tilt/scrunch of the back and prevents rotating over the top of the ball.
Objectives
Install the correct barrel path (parallel to the pitch plane); teach the tilt that creates power; eliminate horizontal or over-the-top swings.
Coaching cues
Coil then tilt (not rotate); keep the bat parallel to the top of the wall; scrunch the lower back; feel the snap from the tilt.
Common errors
Rotating instead of tilting; coming over the wall; losing the parallel path.
Steps
- 1. Place a low wall or PVC 8–10 inches from the tee
- 2. Set the tee low
- 3. Coil then tilt so the barrel stays parallel to the wall
- 4. Drive the ball straight up the middle
