Coaching notes

Runners on third practice freezing on contact, reading the outfielder’s catch, and breaking hard for home the instant the ball is secured.

Objectives

Improve tag-up timing, reaction to the catch, and scoring percentage from third on fly balls.

Coaching cues

Stay on the bag until the catch; read the outfielder; explode on the first step; run hard through the plate.

Common errors

Leaving early; freezing too long after the catch; poor first-step angle.
