Stop Wasting Motion – Efficient Infield Throw Path
Peter Torres III teaching point and drill that shortens the arm path and eliminates unnecessary movement so transfers become quicker and throws more accurate.

Coaching notes
Athletes are shown the difference between a long, looping arm action and a short, direct path from glove to release. Dry and live reps emphasize keeping the elbow and hand on a tight, efficient line while the feet continue moving through the field, producing a quicker transfer and tighter accuracy.
Objectives
Eliminate wasted motion in the transfer and arm action, reduce throw time, and improve accuracy under pressure.
Coaching cues
Short and quick arm action; feet never stop; get the ball out of the glove on a direct path; keep the elbow tight to the body on the way up.
Common errors
Looping the arm high or wide; stopping the feet after the field; long arm swing that loses feel and accuracy.
Steps
- 1. Demonstrate long vs short arm path
- 2. Dry reps of the short, direct transfer while feet keep moving
- 3. Live ground balls with emphasis on the tight arm path
- 4. Measure or feel the improvement in quickness and accuracy
