Shuffle Throw Drill for Direction and Intent

Multi-angle shuffle throws teaching pitchers to keep butt, glove, eyes and ball moving straight through the target for linear direction and higher intent.

Coaching notes

Athlete performs controlled shuffle throws while emphasizing hip-to-target alignment and forward momentum instead of spinning off the glove side. Multiple camera angles reinforce the feel.

Objectives

Improve hip-to-target direction, forward momentum, throwing intent, and repeatable velocity.

Coaching cues

Bring butt, glove, eyes, and the ball straight to and through the target with max intent; stay linear, no spinning off glove side.

Common errors

Spinning off to the glove side; losing linear direction; low intent or decelerating early.

Steps

  1. 1. Set up facing target at comfortable distance
  2. 2. Perform shuffle steps forward
  3. 3. Throw keeping body parts aligned straight through target
  4. 4. Review from multiple angles and repeat
