Uses positioning, glove positioning and head movement so players learn to find the ball quickly even under difficult lighting.
Objectives
Build confidence and technique for sun-field plays.
Coaching cues
Use the glove or hand as a visor early; keep the head still once the ball is found; get behind the ball.
Common errors
Panicking; losing the ball completely; turning the wrong way.
Steps
- 1. Position so sun is a factor
- 2. Soft toss or fungo into the sun
- 3. Locate, track, catch
- 4. Progress distance and difficulty
