No-Stride Hitting Drill
Feet-planted constraint that isolates upper-body rotation and bat path by removing the stride variable entirely.
- Equipment:
- Bat / tee
- Duration:
- About 6 min
- Setting:
- Indoor or outdoor
- Players:
- Solo
Coaching notes
Hitter sets the feet in a normal or slightly open stance and keeps them planted while swinging. Forces pure rotation and helps the athlete feel the torso and barrel work without lower-body timing variables.
Objectives
Isolate and improve rotational sequencing; refine bat path; eliminate stride-related timing issues.
Coaching cues
Feet stay planted; rotate the torso and hips; keep the head quiet; drive the barrel through the zone.
Common errors
Sliding the front foot; early hip slide; casting the hands; loss of posture.
Steps
- 1. Set feet in normal stance and plant them
- 2. Load and rotate without any stride
- 3. Swing for solid contact and extension
- 4. Reset and repeat
