Low Tee Hitting Drill
Low-tee constraint that forces side-bend, hip/knee flexion, and posture adjustments needed to elevate low pitches into line-drive flight.
- Equipment:
- Bat / tee
- Duration:
- About 8 min
- Setting:
- Indoor or outdoor
- Players:
- Solo
Coaching notes
Tee set at or below the knee. Hitter works the combination of side bend and lower-body flexion to keep the same launch window (~20°) on low pitches, producing hard line drives rather than choppers or pop-ups.
Objectives
Elevate low pitches with proper posture; train side-bend and lower-half flexion; maintain consistent launch angle across pitch heights.
Coaching cues
Tee low (knee or below); stay in posture; add side-bend + hip/knee flexion; same launch window as middle pitches.
Common errors
Steep downward path producing choppers; dipping the upper body and creating pop-ups or rollovers.
Steps
- 1. Set tee at or below knee height
- 2. Load normally and attack with added side-bend and flexion
- 3. Drive the ball on a line (~20°)
- 4. Reset posture and repeat
