Coaching notes

Players run continuous circles or figure patterns that force them to maintain speed while changing direction with proper lean and arm action.

Objectives

Build efficient turning mechanics, improve conditioning, and create automatic good paths.

Coaching cues

Stay on the circle; lean into the turn; keep the arms pumping; never upright.

Common errors

Cutting the circle too tight or too wide; standing up; losing arm drive.

  1. 1. Set cones or use the infield dirt to create large circles
  2. 2. Players run continuous circles focusing on lean and path
  3. 3. Progress to base-to-base paths that incorporate the circle concept
