Antonelli Strong Loaded Position Drill
Antonelli Baseball drill emphasizing the need to get into a strong coiled/loaded position before firing the swing.
- Duration:
- About 6 min
Coaching notes
Hitter practices getting from a relaxed stance into a fully coiled, upper-body-pulled-back loaded position and holding it before launching. Builds the habit of being truly ready to hit instead of swinging from a weak or non-loaded position.
Objectives
Install a strong, repeatable loaded position; eliminate swings from a weak or non-coiled posture; improve consistency of launch.
Coaching cues
Get the upper body pulled back; feel loaded and coiled; do not swing from a flat or non-ready position; hold the strong position briefly then fire.
Common errors
Swinging from a weak or non-coiled posture; failing to get the upper body pulled back; rushing from stance to swing without a true load.
Steps
- 1. Start in a relaxed stance
- 2. Move into a strong coiled/loaded position with upper body pulled back
- 3. Hold briefly to feel the readiness
- 4. Fire the swing from that strong position
