Antonelli One-Tee Flip Adjustability Drill

Antonelli Baseball progressive drill that combines a fixed inside tee with random outside flips, forcing the hitter to adjust from deep to out-front contact in real time.

Duration:
About 10 min

Coaching notes

An outside tee is set. The coach flips balls to the outside location most of the time but randomly holds or fakes so the hitter must adjust and drive the tee ball to the pull side. Builds timing and adjustability.

Objectives

Train real-time adjustability between deep outside contact and pull-side contact; improve decision-making and path flexibility.

Coaching cues

Anticipate the flip but be ready to adjust; drive the flip to the opposite field; when the coach holds, immediately attack the tee to the pull side.

Common errors

Guessing instead of reacting; failing to stay ready for the adjustment; changing the entire swing instead of only the contact point.

Steps

  1. 1. Set an outside tee
  2. 2. Coach flips to the outside most of the time
  3. 3. Hitter drives the flip opposite field
  4. 4. When coach holds, hitter immediately attacks the tee to the pull side
