Antonelli Deep-Tee Barrel Depth Drill

Antonelli Baseball simple but powerful tee placement change that forces early barrel entry by moving the tee deeper in the zone.

Duration:
About 6 min

Coaching notes

Instead of placing the tee out front, the coach moves it deeper toward the catcher. The hitter must get the barrel into the zone earlier to make solid contact, training depth and a longer time in the hitting window.

Objectives

Force early barrel entry; increase the size of the hitting window; improve timing and adjustability.

Coaching cues

Move the tee deeper; get the barrel in the zone early; drive the ball with depth; feel the longer time the barrel is available.

Common errors

Still trying to hit the ball out front; late barrel entry; losing posture trying to reach.

Steps

  1. 1. Place the tee deeper than normal (toward the catcher)
  2. 2. Load and get the barrel into the zone early
  3. 3. Drive the ball with depth
  4. 4. Progress back to normal tee placement while keeping the same early entry feel
