Coaching notes
Northern Baseball Training progressive hitting series using tee, connection ball and optional exercise ball to build each segment of the swing from coil through extension.
Objectives
Develop sequential power from lower half through upper half, proper launch timing, bat path and extension.
Coaching cues
Coil the hip (not just weight shift); nothing happens until front heel plants; drive back knee under; front arm works up through the zone; extend palm-up to the field.
Common errors
Early weight transfer, front-side collapse, barring the front arm, rolling wrists early, loss of posture.
Steps
- 1. Load: sit/sink into rear glute, coil hip, retract scapula
- 2. Launch: heel trigger, nothing until heel hits ground
- 3. Lower half: turn back hip, drive knee, straighten front leg
- 4. Arms: connection-ball path, front arm bent up through zone
- 5. Finish: split-grip extension, palm up pointing to field
