Amyo on the Road: Leavenworth
March baseball weather showed up just in time for our first stop of the season. We took a short drive up K-7 to Richard Warren Middle School, home of the Pioneer Sports Complex. The winds were stiff, filled with a regular chill, but baseball returning warmed us from the inside as we checked out the preseason jamboree on the Pioneers' beautiful turf field.
The bright blue LV stands out strong on the clean turf infield. The stadium has outfield turf as well, lights and a small set of bleachers behind home plate.

Downtown Leavenworth is scattered with mom and pop shops, restaurants and historic buildings.

The 'First City of Kansas' was a fitting first stop of our Amyo on the Road tour.

Pullman Place Family Restaurant was our choice for pregame. The MoPac burger got a 7.8/10 rating in our Burgers Before Baseball series.

The Centennial Bridge crosses the Missouri River on the northeast side of town. Leavenworth borders the mighty Mo with plenty of pretty views of the river.

Fort Leavenworth is a historic military base that plays a major role to the city.

Pullman Place Family Restaurant is famous for their breakfast, but their burgers were great.

Leavenworth is also home to the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary.
